Limit Sensor EVT
This test fixture was designed and built to verify that an optical limit sensor had a lifespan > 1 million triggers. The fixture carries out this test by oscillating between the optical limit sensor and the mechanical limit switch.
Design Progression
Key Design Changes
Flag Shape
Changed from a Z shape to a rectangular prism to decrease travel distance per cycle and consequently decrease test time by 35%.
Increased Constraints
Added a second linear rail to further constrain the oscillating plate and nullify the wobble observed in the initial design.
Homing
Added a mechanical limit switch to enable homing of the stepper motor at the end of each cycle, increasing test subject isolation.
